DOSA

The dosa is one of India's most ancient dishes. Made of rice and black grams (a special kind of bean), the dough is fermented overnight before baking. Usually, dosa is served filled with vegetables and chutney.

The world’s longest dosa ever baked was 30 feet long!

Indian food is rich with curries and spices such as ginger, coriander, and turmeric and is said to be one of the world’s most colorful and flavorful foods. About one third of all Indians are vegetarians.

Indian food is eaten with your fingers. Supposedly, feeling your food also helps you better smell, taste, and eventually digest the food.

When you go into one of NYC’s many Indian restaurants, greet the staff by saying “Namaste” which means, “I bow to you”. This is a respectful way to greet someone in India.
